Junior School Tech Head helps with year 6

Emily McHale was on hand this week to help with some of our year 6 lessons. Her first assignment as a Tech Head, a new initiative by the DT dept where subject specific prefects or "Tech Heads" are available to help those lower down in the school with DT specific class work.

Hardwoods and Softwoods

Mr Pye took advantage of the nice weather and took his year 7 class outside today to learn more about the types of trees that give us different softwoods and hardwoods.

I spent today showing pupils how to do a quick zombie makeup - looks like they enjoyed it!

Former Product Design student Jess Lodge recently completed her degree at Huddersfield and was awarded a 2:1!

Here she is pictured next to her display board.

She also gave us a quick tour around the rest of the Product Design display.

Congratulations Frazer!

Old Silcotian Frazer Maxwell recently finished his BA in Product Design at York St John and I was lucky enough to be invited along to his degree show.

On display were his designs for some innovative city centre seating.

There was also some great work from his coursemates on display too.
